Overview:

There are a great many rumors that surround The Hyperion, and several good tall tales.

“The architect was in league with the devil!” 
“Rituals and sacrifices were held in the basement!”
“It was built on a cemetery!”
“Aliens!”
“Government mind control experiments!”

As interesting a read as these rumors make on the Reddit and 4-Chan threads, I can tell you they are all false.

The Hyperion simply exists in those in-between liminal spaces, those vast empty backroom places that haunt the edges of dreams and nightmares. 

The earliest reports on the Hyperion date back to 1920 and are always in Chicago. It first sent letters and telegrams, phone calls eventually, and now text messages to its intended victims. It always ends the correspondence with a final message: “Don’t worry, we will find you.”

In the weeks leading up to Halloween night, when the building eventually finds them, many victims would go mad with their obsession with The Hyperion. It has been documented through eyewitness testimony that the building appears on street corners and intersections where before, only empty lots existed. Those that witnessed the intended targets enter the building claimed that they never came back out.

But if no one ever gets out, where did these rumors come from, and who started them? Who are these “eyewitnesses”? These are unanswered questions.
